Weeks 93 and 94: A week of Christmas

Tate had many Christmas celebrations this holiday season. There was Christmas with Grandma Cromer and Grandpa Mike, Papa and Mimi Harris, Nana and Pawpaw Hardin, friends, extended family and, of course, Christmas with Chuck and I. Though Tate took in more than his fair share and toys and other holiday treats, he was also exposed to the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We attended several church services during our "week of Christmas," a tradition, I plan to continue as Tate grows and begins to understand the Christmas story. SO without further ado, I have assembled a slideshow for your viewing pleasure. I hope you enjoy. Happy holidays!!!!

Week 92: Snowed In

This week Tate learned to appreciate the rarely occurring phenomenon to Arkansas I like to call the "snow day." Stuck in the house for two days Tate found lots of things to do to keep himself entertained. After he pulled out every toy he's ever owned and brought them from his bedroom to the living room there was the cartoon network marathon, a nap here and there... eventually he discovered "dress up." Tate found a pair of gloves, a hat and a pair of boots of Chuck's and decided to try them on for size. I managed to catch him in the midst of a session of "dress up."
All in all we had a great time, but both of us were ready to get back to the normal routine.

Week 91: Christmas Parade + Fire Bug

Last Thursday Tate attended his very first Christmas parade. It was super cold, but we bundled up and braved the frigid temperatures in order for Tate to experience the excitement and awe of a parade through the eyes of a child. My little guy was surprisingly still. Apparently all the floats, vehicles with flashing lights, motorcycles and animals kept his attention.
After the parade, we headed home to thaw out. Once at home I asked Chuck if he'd build a fire in the fireplace for me. Just the same as any other night when Chuck built a fire for me, he started by stepping outside to chop up a few logs for kindling. He brought it in the house and proceeded to tear up strips of cardboard. It was about that time that Tate decided he was going to help. Before you know it Tate took over. Chuck scooted out of the way and let Tate fill the fireplace with kindling and cardboard. Eventually Chuck added a few logs and lit the fire. Once the fire was going good, they took a moment to admire their work.

Week 90: Thanksgiving

Much like his mother Tate's not a big fan of turkey. However, this dislike of turkey didn't get in the way of his holiday feast. (We spent Thanksgiving with my mother in Little Rock then headed up to Mountain Home to Chuck's mom and dad's place. There we visited with family in town from Houston.)
On turkey day there were plenty of other festive dishes for Tate eat/wear. He was quite fond of the dressing, the mashed potatoes, the sweet potato souffle and my personal favorite, the ham. Much like the rest of his family, Tate ate and ate and ate. And just like the rest of us, he indulged in a nap, however he didn't make it to the couch. He played soooo hard all morning. THe little guy was running, as my mother would put it, "90 to nothing." We sat down to our Thanksgiving feast around 1 or 1:30. So once he had his fill, he crashed right there in his highchair at the dining room table!
After his nap, Tate tried his luck with the wishbone. It worked! Since Tate is a little bit too young to make wishes, I made one for him (let's just say it involves potty training).
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!!!
