Adventures of Tate: Week 98

It seems my little man has become quite the bookworm! He enjoys reading and apparently his skill for reading developed so quickly that he's into speed reading. I caught him the other day. He had pulled every book that he owns out off the shelves in his room and told me he had read them all. Can you believe? Look out Little Einsteins!

Week 97: Polar Bear Plunge

No, I did not let Tate jump into ultra cold water in a dirty fishing lake, I let Chuck.
I'm not sure exactly how it came about, but Chuck, as part of the Craighead Electric polar plunge team, jumped into Lake Walcott last Saturday. Can you believe it? I can't. But, then again, I'm the one in the family who is perpetually cold. Nonetheless Tate and I were on hand to show our support for our main man.
Before the actually "jump" Tate helped to kept Chuck warm and gave him a pep talk. I must say Tate was amazed that people, including his otherwise intelligent father, were actually getting in the water on such a cold day.
As our outing was coming to a close, Tate made a new friend, one of the four-legged variety.
In the end I was quite proud of Chuck and his co-workers. Not only did they jump into freezing cold water on a cold day, they managed to raise $4,700 for the Special Olympics.

Week 96: Swimming with Daddy

It's a new year, and with a new year come resolutions. Chuck and I have vowed to shed some pounds and get into better shape! In order to do that our family joined a gym. The gym has an indoor pool, which we've been taking advantage of. Chuck and Tate have been swimming several evenings in a row. It seemed like so much fun that I decided to join in the fun. Sunday I tagged along to the pool, camera in tow, to capture this father-son bonding. I snapped a few quick shots before Tate yelled for me to join them. I did and we had a blast. Tate rode on our backs while we swam from one end of the pool to the other. We also worked with Tate on going under water. We had a good time, got some exercise and Tate's beginning to learn to swim. That's what I call a win, win situation!

Week 95: Tate the Plumber

Over the New Year's holiday weekend Chuck installed a couple of new faucets around the house. Of course Tate was right in the middle of it, "borrowing" Chuck's tools, climbing under the sink and so on and so forth. He's such a good helper!
